Brick, brick! What do you want to be? Brick, Brick! What do you want to be?
Architect Louis Khan asked the brick what he wanted to be and then thought deeply about the building material so that he could be the brick and answer. How much do we know and want to know about the material? Building materials vary from country to country and from region to region. Depending on the climate, even the same materials may have different processing methods, and sometimes cultural differences can lead to different uses and color choices. For example, it describes how the result will differ depending on who uses the same material, and even includes examples of using the material in a different way. It also includes a variety of experiences from architects around the world, examples of them, detailed drawings, and the works of other architects they refer to. The author wrote this book, hoping that more buildings would be built with “building materials” that clearly reflect the architects intentions, rather than simply choosing “building materials” for cost.
